About Founder Sloan P. Ellis
At the Sloan P. Ellis Law Firm, we focus our attention on representing individuals and businesses in criminal investigations and in State and Federal courts of South Carolina. From our office in Greenville, we are led by attorney Sloan P. Ellis, a former prosecutor, a large firm litigator, and member of the Upstate Financial Crimes Task Force.
Before Becoming A Prosecutor
Prior to joining the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Sloan was an attorney at Nexsen Pruet, a South Carolina-based firm that represents clients in virtually every industry in North and South Carolina and around the country. While at Nexsen Pruet, Sloan worked directly for William W. Wilkins, the former chief judge of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and chair of the United States Sentencing Commission. At Nexsen Pruet, Sloan specialized in federal white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation, areas he continues to focus on here at the Sloan P. Ellis Law Firm.
While at Nexsen Pruet, Sloan was also actively engaged in an appellate practice, representing clients with appeals pending in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the South Carolina Supreme Court and the South Carolina Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Sloan worked in Charleston, South Carolina, with former United States Attorney E. Bart Daniel. While working with Mr. Daniel, Sloan focused his practice on white collar criminal defense and was a member of the trial team who, during a month-long trial, defended the last person to be tried in what has been called the “largest and most complex white collar investigation in the history of South Carolina.”
